CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Susan Pieper was tired of her son breaking all of her lawn and garden tools. She set out to create a durable and portable shovel.

She started DMOS Collective in Jackson in 2015, and she had been commuting back and forth from Jackson to Portland to run the company. DMOS Collective manufactured everything out of a factory in Portland, Ore. and the company was managed from Jackson.

Recently, Pieper decided to bring everything “home.” She moved the entire operation to Alpine, Wyo. Pieper said they moved to Alpine, “So that we could have more space, so that we could be closer to our manufacturing supply chain, and quite frankly, because the workforce here really understands what we do. So we now have people working for us that are from the communities we serve.”

She had considered moving the entire operation to places like Denver or Bozeman, but she believes Wyoming is a great place to have a business. “Cost of real estate, great workforce, being close to the markets that we serve. It makes Wyoming a natural choice.”

Pieper’s proud to be settled in Lincoln County but admitted that as the company grows it may have to look into being closer to a major interstate.
