CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Grace For 2 Brothers, AARP,, Blue Federal Credit Union, Dillinger’s Bar, EXP Realty, Coldwell Banker The Property Exchange, Jonah Bank of Wyoming and Graffiti Cuisine are partnering this weekend to help bring awareness to suicide prevention. Mainly focusing on creating outreach programs for youth and older adults.

“Around the state we’ve done a lot of research and found that those are areas that we haven’t been able to really tap into yet, and they need some more focus. So we’re looking to really just divert some funds there,” said Grace For 2 Brothers Executive Director, Jeremy Bay.

The event will have live music from local musician Bobby Phillips, magic from Daniel Jaspersen and comedy from Steven Michael Quezada.

Bay hopes to use the money raised to create suicide prevention outreach programs for youth and older adults. He said unfortunately many of the COVID precautions also overlap with risk factors for suicide.

When it comes to the organizations that have partnered with Grace For 2 Brothers to put the event on, Bay said it shows that they are committed to reversing the suicide trend in Wyoming.

“In 2019 we led the nation in per capita suicide deaths, that’s not a thing we want to be on the top of, and preliminary reports that I’ve heard out of the state is that there were 190 deaths in 2020 so that’s up from 170 in 2019, so we’re trending the wrong way. By these folks contributing and donating to make this event happen and raise awareness, they’ve really taken a step forward to combat and reverse the trend in Wyoming.”

The event will be on Saturday Feb. 27 at Dillinger’s Bar downtown which is located at 1601 Central Ave. Tickets for the first show from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. are currently sold out, but the 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. show has around 20 tickets left. Tickets are $45 if bought ahead or $55 at the door, the ticket gets you a dinner from Graffiti Cuisine, two free drinks at Dillinger’s Bar and the show.
