CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - February 12, 2020. That’s the last time the Ford Wyoming Center hosted a concert when Skillet took the stage.

On Thursday, that drought will end when Justin Moore and Tracy Lawrence kick off their “Late Nights and Longnecks Tour” in Casper at the Ford Wyoming Center.

The events have been limited since the coronavirus pandemic began over a year ago, and it’s forced the events the Ford Wyoming Center has had to have limited seating.

Ford Wyoming Center Box Office Manager Shelby Gruber said the limited seating has been a challenge. “It’s hard to sell those types of seating to our public because there’s a lot of people that do want to sit in bigger groups and be back to normal, so selling wise it has been a lot harder,” said Gruber.

Gruber said expectations have also had to be adjusted because of the limited capacity.

“I think what makes it a little bit better is the day of the show once you see people come in, and you’re like, ‘Oh, it kinda feels normal’ because people are here and they want to have fun and they want to enjoy something.”

Gruber admitted that having a concert back in the building is “exciting” and has lifted people’s spirits. “When you have customers come up and they’re excited to be there and excited to go to a show, it just makes you feel good,” said Gruber. “It makes us feel like ‘Oh, we’re doing something right again,’ and you know we’re making people’s lives a little bit better, so we’ve just been ecstatic.”

Thursday’s concert will be one of the final events with a limited capacity. Because of a variance granted by the state and Natrona County, there will be no limits on attendance after May 1.
