CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Cheyenne Frontier Days online ticketing ran into some problems Thursday morning while thousands flooded to buy concert tickets.

The CFD ticketing program on had some major glitches, thanks to 25,000 callers and 25,000 visitors on the website trying to purchase tickets simultaneously. Some visitors had trouble buying tickets, from the system glitching, to having tickets disappear from their carts before checkout.

Garth Brooks tickets sold out in less than 40 minutes. According to Tom Hirsig, CEO of Cheyenne Frontier Days, they sold approximately 65,000 tickets by 2 p.m. MT this afternoon.

“Being able to sell that volume of tickets in that matter of time, a lot of things had to work right and you got to expect some things will go wrong, but we certainty will be evaluating some of those glitches that we heard complaints about and keep moving forward,” said Hirsig.

Hirsig also warned against scammers earlier this week, saying they do take precautions to ensure third party websites are not selling illegitimate tickets. Hirsig said the best way to get tickets is through the CFD website to

Unfortunately, people were still able to bypass the four-ticket limit and buy multiple tickets to sell for a much higher price.

“It’s disappointing to us because we don’t like to see people pay that much money, we try to keep our ticket prices down where people can afford them and people take advantage of us, so I’m not sure what the complete answer will be,” said Hirsig.

Price gouging the tickets is not illegal, so CFD is unable to take action against those that are taking advantage. Hirsig said they can only do refunds to those who purchase the tickets directly through them, so if you purchase elsewhere, ensure your tickets are legitimate by checking your seating and ticket numbers.

Hirsig said there are still plenty of tickets available for purchase at this time.
