CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Hogadon skiers have usually received a discount of $150 when they purchase a season pass during the preseason, but that will change next ski season.

The new price for preseason passes will be $400, which decreases the discount by $50.

Casper Parks and Recreation Director Tim Cortez said this change will help make Hogadon “a more sustainable facility.” It cuts about $100,000 from the subsidy Hogadon receives from the city of Casper, which is about a third of Hogadon’s annual subsidy.

Cortez said they’ve been comparing Hogadon to other ski areas in the region to reach the new price levels.

“The bad thing is it’s hard to really put a price tag on the convenience of having a ski area that’s 25 minutes away from town,” said Cortez. “Most places where you would go skiing in the region don’t offer that kind of convenience, but still we remain lower than most of those other ski areas.”

Cortez said at the end of the day everything will remain the same to skiers and still provide a great value to season pass holders.
