CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Mills is a neighboring town of Casper, and it has a birthday coming up next week. The kind usually celebrated.

“May 10th, 2021 is the official hundred-year birthday of the Town of Mills,” said Mills Mayor Seth Coleman in an interview about what it means to hit the century mark as a city. “We were incorporated May 10th, 1921.”

Coleman said Mills was originally created to be a housing area for workers at the local refinery.

Mills is planning to have a larger celebration for the centennial birthday on June 12. It’ll be a part of the city’s “Summerfest.”

The Mills Police Department will also honor the city’s centennial birthday with commemorative police badges. The badges have American flags on each side and mark in the middle the city’s 100 years.

Tyler Houser, a Mills police officer, said he is proud to serve Mills and the people who live there, and it’s a privilege to honor the city’s milestone birthday with the police badges.

“To have that hundredth year banner on the badge and the town of Mills on there, it’s a huge pride moment,” said Houser. “It’s something that we show the longevity of this town and everything that it’s gone through over the last hundred years, and we’re able to commemorate it with something new and something that we’re proud to show off.”
