Cheyenne Regional Airport gets some reconstruction
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Cheyenne Regional Airport began its $60 million-dollar runway rehabilitation. The runways were last rebuilt 50 years ago.
The first of the two-phase project started this summer of 2021 and is set to continue through till Sept., when it will pause for the winter.
Commercial service is currently paused as construction takes place but will resume in July. General aviation will stay open to receiving corporate business and one runway will open for Cheyenne’s Frontier days for visitors.
The project is set to finish by 2023.
“We are completely digging the entire thing up. All the ways down past the dirt... We are going to rebuild from the bottom up and we’re hoping that when we’re done with this project we will have a great runway that serves our community for hopefully another 50 years.”
