RIVERTON, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -

A few weeks ago a story was run about some damage being done at the Rendezvous site in riverton. Some Riverton Middle School students knew about the trash and graffiti in the area, and wanted to do something about it.

The students are part of the community improvement association, or CIA, as they like to be called. Last Saturday, a group of the students spent time clearing out litter and repainting rocks that had been tagged. The specific group of students named their group C.A.R.P, or the Cleaning Association for the Rendezvous Ponds.

Although the job wasn’t easy, a 7th grade student who participated in the cleanup efforts, said it was all worth it.

Cayden Harris explained, “In the beginning, I did not like it at all. I got paint on my clothes and all that, my legs were sore, but when I was done and I knew it was clean, I felt accomplished.”

The middle school CIA group will continue to do cleanup projects around Riverton that will last through the summer. Alma Law, a middle school language arts teacher who leads the students in the program, said some will volunteer for long terms projects that will last into high school.
