The Heat is Back!
But the cool down is headed our way soon.
Over the past several weeks, Wyoming experienced record breaking temperatures. Places like Greybull and Wheatland set new high temperature records in the triple digits, nearly 110 degrees. After weeks of hot temperatures, we were able to get a brief cool down yesterday. The high yesterday was in the low 70s. A temperature like that felt much more comfortable than those before. Unfortunately, the temperatures are rising once again.
Forecasted highs for the Cowboy state today range from the 80s to 90s (with the exception of Yellowstone in the upper 70s). Much of the state sits within the 90s today. Although the northwest corner must have drawn all of the luck, getting to stay in the lower to mid 80s. The temperatures will not stop there. Tomorrow, the temperatures will continue to climb. Highs in the state are forecasted to be higher, with some areas even reaching triple digits again. Cities such as Torrington and Scottsbluff are forecasted to be 100 degrees and above. There are several other cities that will be sitting along the triple digit breaking point as well. The best plan for the next couple days: Keep Cool, Keep Drinking Water, and Keep Your Sunglasses Near! Something else one might consider, if you plan on being at a pool or a lake, have your sunscreen handy and reapply consistently.
News of warmer temperatures can only be relieved by following up with news of a necessary cool down. A rain chance is expected to make its way into the southeast corner of the state on Thursday night. This chance of rain and contributing winds will bring a much needed temperature drop. Some cities in the southeastern corner of Wyoming could experience a drop of temperatures into the upper 60s as we head into the weekend.
