Casper Horseheads Expedition League All-Star: Jake Wright
The Casper Horseheads have four Expedition League all-stars this summer, and the lone arm representing the team is Jake Wright.
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Casper Horseheads are this year’s host for the Expedition League All-Star Game. The exhibition will feature the best and brightest from the first half of this summer’s Expedition League teams.
The Horseheads have four representatives playing in the game, and the lone pitcher is Jake Wright.
Wright is originally from Ringgold, GA, and plays at Carson-Newman during the school year.
Over 32 innings on the mound, he’s collected 31 strikeouts this summer.
“He’s kind of our rock on the pitching on the staff,” said Casper Horseheads Head Coach Kyle Peterson in an interview discussing Wright. “He’s just the most competitive kid I might have ever coached, to be honest. He’s just day in, day out when he’s on the mound, obviously, he’s got a little attitude to him, which is a good thing as a pitcher.”
Wright called it “exciting” when he found out that he had been selected among the best of the best in the Expedition League.
“First thing I did, I called my dad told him about it and that was really what you’re shooting for,” said Wright. “You’re always shooting to do the best you can, help your team out to win, and to be recognized as one of the better players in the league is really just a really important accomplishment for me.”
The Expedition All-Star Game will be held at Mike Lansing Field on Tuesday, July 20 at 7:05 PM.
