CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - August 11 is coming up. Black Hills Energy reminds Wyomingites to call 811 before they dig for their next project.

Jesse Henderson, the damage prevention coordinator, said not calling could put a community member’s fence project even more behind or a large project from Treto Construction.

“If we have to shut down for a period of time we have a ton of people standing around getting paid and not getting anything done,” said Dennis Bryant, a Treto Construction Superintendent.

Henderson adds calling 811 is the law and important to keep everyone safe. Henderson adds if you dont’ have to be working on a full construction site to call 811 before digging. You have to call even with small projects.

“When you’re putting in concrete forms people don’t think they’re going in very deep and they don’t need to call in for a locate. We’ve had several instances of concrete stakes go into our gas line this year,” Henderson said.

Henderson praises companies like Treto and community members who call 811 before they dig.
