Smoke Is Getting Lighter
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -
Yesterday, there was lots of smoke around and very little cloud coverage. Today is the opposite, clouds are moving in as the smoke is moving out. Clouds will be sticking around through this afternoon and into tomorrow evening.
The smoke activity yesterday was quite heavy. Today, the smoke is beginning to really lighten up. The areas with the heaviest smoke are along the northeastern and southeastern borders. Just north of Sheridan is where the heaviest pocket of smoke is this afternoon.
Early tomorrow morning, the heavy smoke pocket will expend in size and travel southwest. This will mean the Casper will have lots of heavy smoke moving through in the early morning hours.
By Thursday afternoon, another heavy smoke pocket will form and it will locate itself over Sheridan. Throughout the afternoon and into early Friday morning, that pocket of smoke will not move much. It will just be stationary and expand in its size.
Smoke is still causing Air Quality Warnings in the state today. There are three major warnings in place right now. The southeast corner is under the warning until Wednesday (today) at 12:30PM. The northeast corner is under that warning until Wednesday (today) at 1PM. The western half of the state is under the final Air Quality Warning until Wednesday (today) at 1:30PM.
