CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - A newly evolved task-force is working to represent entrepreneurship in the community. The Innovations and Entrepreneurship Task Force was created to guide Cheyenne toward success in local business and technological advances.

“When the City Council is presented with an opportunity, we can look to the people in our community who really have the knowledge and technology and get their opinions and ideas and we can also be looking at our city ordinances and see if there is anything that is prohibiting people from being able to pursue innovation and entrepreneurship,” said City Council Member and Advocate for the task force, Dr. Michelle Aldrich.

Dr. Aldrich sponsored the resolution to form the task force. Members of the task force were carefully selected to represent the various sectors of local businesses, such as Restaurant and Beverage, the Arts and Technology. Dr. Aldrich said the city hopes the wide spectrum of community members can help Cheyenne move forward as a whole.

“It’s about helping Cheyenne find its sense of place, so that we can be working and pulling all in the same direction, from a marketing perspective, so that we can really be working to complement each other, and to support the efforts that are already going on in our community, rather than duplicating efforts. We don’t have the luxury of the time or the money to duplicate efforts. That’s why we really want to be efficient about what we are doing, and always be looking for that next new idea.”

The meetings are the first Tuesday of every month, from 6 - 8 p.m. They are always open to the public.
