Friends of Youth Alternatives hosts Golf Tournament
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Friends Of Youth Alternatives may have began a new tradition. For their first time, they hosted a golf tournament to raise funds for their cause. While it is only the inaugural event, it could soon turn into an annual occurrence.
Gina John, the President of Friends of Youth Alternatives, said, “this is our 50th anniversary for the office of youth alternatives, and we were looking for a way to celebrate, to engage our community, to make it a fun event, and golf is very popular in the summer months of Cheyenne, Wyoming.”
Alongside their event sponsors, Friends Of Youth Alternatives set out to raise awareness for struggling youths. The tournament began at 12:30 on August 14th, consisting of 18 holes and a $25,000 cash prize for the overall winner. They even provided those who registered with lunch, dinner, and many other challenges to potentially win money in. While the event was set up to be a one-time event, its effectiveness and the community involvement could push it to return once again.
“A lot of people I know, Youth Alternatives, have gone through youth Alternatives, I know a lot of people who work there and we work with the city. Just a great cause,” said Golf Tournament participant Marc Thayer.
