South High School, Ringside Sports host Southside Stampede
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - With football season around the corner, Ringside Sports and South High School hosted the southside stampede. This offered members of the community a chance to come out and show love for the bison, as well as watch the band and dance team perform.
“We got this put together in an effort to bring the community together just to really support the kids on the southside of Cheyenne. Bring the community together , cheer them on, tell them we’re behind them, tell them we’re excited for sports season this year. Especially with COVID season, just give them a little hope that things are coming back,” said President of Ringside Sports Janell Mellish.
South high school’s students, staff, and supporters came out to the building today, helping to raise the excitement for the upcoming sports season. For some, it was a chance to catch up with familiar faces, but for others, it was an introduction to the school they’ll now help develop.
" It’s been great. Any time we can get out and meet and greet with the staff, with the teachers, with the players, and the parents, it’s awesome. It goes with our theme that we are family here on the Southside,” said Hurey Smith, the new Head Coach for the Johnson Junior High Football Program.
Michael Loveland, the new South High School Golf Coach, said, “everybody comes out and supports the community, everybody has been really, really nice. Every single parent I’ve talked to has been like “what’re you doing? What’s going on? How’s your team doing?” Just asking me questions on everything going on and what I’m planning on doing in the future. It’s been a really tight knit community and really welcoming.”
With the success of this event, Ringside Sports hopes to potentially grow their program by creating similar events for each school in the county.
