JV Golf Tournament at Little America Resort offers more playing time, a better look at talent for coaches
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Little America Resort hosted a JV Golf tournament today. The course served as a nice way for the teams to shake off some rust ahead of the season, and for coaches to get familiar with the new boys and girls on the roster.
“For those younger athletes, it’s an opportunity to show what we’ve been doing, show what they’re learning. Really see what it’s like, because they haven’t seen tournaments. They haven’t seen what it’s gonna be like when they go in a tournament, " said South HS Golf Coach Michael Loveland.
Coach Loveland has only been with South for about two weeks, but he’s finding ways to learn his teams strengths quickly. To help build chemistry, Varsity team members were keeping scores and going with different groups. While coach is looking for leadership from the older players, the more experienced golfers are helping prepare the school for the next wave of talent.
“Really, I’m looking forward to seeing who’s going to come up to replace me and my fellow senior. Just to see what the future’s gonna be like for this golf program, and see where’s it’s kinda heading in the next couple years. That’ll be kinda interesting to see,” said South HS Senior Dax Fisher.
East, Central, Laramie, and South participated in the tournament, giving their team 9 extra holes in the early stages of the year.
