CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - School is officially back in session. Today, August 23, saw the return of students all across the district. While it is a new year, some restrictions have been carried over.

Masks are still a recommendation for students at all levels, as well as social distancing. Six feet is the recommended distance for athletics, four feet in the lunchroom, and three feet in classrooms. The staff has also been advised to maintain a six feet distance. In order to board a bus, you must have a mask due to Federal Regulations. The protocols for Athletics masking remain in place.

There was a lot of uncertainty as to what the rules would be, as LCSD1 announced their decision on Friday, August 20th. Even with the restrictions, the teachers enter the year with experience on both sides.

“I did think, overall, it was easier this year, because last year was like a test run. This year, I feel confident with Canvas, I feel confident with Zoom, so some of the things we needed to do weren’t as major as last year,” said South High Social Studies Teacher Reagan Kaufman.

The District says schools will continue to limit exposure and adapt their protocols as time moves on. To see the restriction letter, click here.
