Agencies in Casper taking precautions due to rising Covid numbers
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Due to the increase of Covid-19 cases across Natrona County, some agencies in Casper are taking extra precautions in their workplace.
“Listening to the message the health department is putting out, this particular surge in cases is really going to hit our labor forces the hardest. So we’re really trying to ensure that city operations, which are essential to our community can continue without interruption,” said Zulima Lopez, the Risk Manager for the City of Casper.
The city says it is their top priority to ensure customers and employees stay safe so that all operations can continue. This includes public safety, utilities, and economic services.
City employees are instructed to wear masks when riding in vehicles together. Some agencies, such as the Casper Police Department, will now be conducting team meetings remotely. Team that go into resident’s homes will be wearing masks during their services. Some utility departments are also separating their teams to limit exposure.
“I worked very closely in risk management with all of the departments and divisions to establish safety protocols that they could use. Now, we’re just referring back to that playbook that was already established and pulling the ones that are most effective that seem to make the most sense for operations at this time” said Lopez.
The city will continue to monitor this situation to keep employees and residents safe.
