YMCA of Natrona County makes progress on Phase II development
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Progress is in the works at the YMCA of Natrona County as crews work to finish Phase II. This development will include many things such as pools and community rooms for friends and family to enjoy.
“People are getting really excited for what it is and when it’s going to be finished and we all internally are really excited because we know, hey, we’re only a few months away from this grand opening, and we have a lot of work to do, but we’re excited about what’s coming in the future,” said Stephanie Disburg, the CEO of YMCA of Natrona County.
Crews are working hard to get the walls up in the future community rooms at the Y. Construction continues to move right along schedule, with most of the concrete for the pools already poured. This year, all donations that the YMCA received for WyoGives went towards the project, which they say helped tremendously.
“The donors that turned out for the YMCA were incredible. We ended up making over 83,000 dollars in that one day, and we had some very significant matches from WyoGives and then internally from some anonymous YMCA donors,” said Glenda Thomass, the Development Manager for YMCA of Natrona County.
The Y ranked in the top 3 non-profits statewide to receive donations on WyoGives. The organization still has 1.5 million dollars left to raise.
Plans are in place to ensure to transition goes smoothly. The Y is working on lifeguard training, numbers, and how to balance safety and fun in the new facility.
“We really want to expand our programs and be ready, not only with a new facility and with new spaces, but with a new outlook on how we serve the community to really be welcoming all people,” said Disburg.
The YMCA of Natrona County is hoping to have the project completed by the end of December.
