Nice Day Today, Some Storms Tomorrow
By: Jordan Frazier
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Despite the warmer temperatures today, most of which being above average, we saw nice conditions with mostly clear skies and a nice breeze. Our warning map still has lots of fire weather warnings due to the hot and dry conditions. We also have those air quality warnings still plaguing the northwest due to the thick smoke.
While the eastern side can see much lighter smoke conditions, the western side can see the smoke getting worse and moving into the central regions by later tomorrow. There were only a couple of isolated showers moving across the northwest today. We still have the chance for seeing more showers and storms later this evening, mostly sticking to the northeast and southeastern corners of the state. This is because that stationary front to our north will now be moving back south again bringing us an increased chance for afternoon thunderstorms. As the front continues going back and forth, we are seeing the windy conditions make their way back into the state.
The breeze will most likely stick toward the central regions of the state as well as cities in the higher elevations. The Storm Prediction Center does have a Marginal risk for much of the eastern side with the Slight risk to the north and eastern borders. Tonight, clouds will be moving through causing our temperatures to stay on the warmer side with more 50s rather than the 40s we have been seeing. Tomorrow, temperatures will stay very similar to those of today with mostly upper 80s throughout the state. Those showers and storms moving through tomorrow will lead to slight cool downs, but nothing out of the ordinary. Going into the weekend, those breezy conditions will be sticking around with seasonable temperatures planning to stick around.
