CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The high school football season in Wyoming kicks off in less than 24 hours. Both of Casper’s high schools, Kelly Walsh and Natrona County, will begin their seasons on the road in Cheyenne.

The Kelly Walsh Trojans will get their season started against Cheyenne South. Kelly Walsh Senior Lineman Ayden Adsit said he can’t wait to run out of the locker room and onto the field Friday night.

“Just [get] the adrenaline pumping, and there’s nothing else like it,” said Adsit during an interview before practice one day this week.

Fellow Trojan Senior Lineman Carlos Enriquez also said he was excited to get things going on Friday, and he can’t wait “to feel football again.”

“It’s a physical sport, and I know everybody that plays football likes to hit people and get that contact,” said Enriquez.

The Natrona County Mustangs are also headed to Cheyenne, and they will face off against Cheyenne Central.

The Mustangs have a young team, as Head Coach Steve Harshman said, but Mustang Senior Wide Receiver and Cornerback Roman Overstreet said this team “has great chemistry.”

That great team chemistry is something the team has worked hard to build over the offseason and fall camp, said Overstreet. Personally, Overstreet said it was going to be “crazy” heading into the last first high school game of his career.

“When I put on the shoulder pads and stuff, it’s really just going to be a focus of playing every down like it’s going to be my last.”

Over in Riverton, the Wolverines will host Powell on Friday night. Powell knocked off Riverton to begin the 2020 season.

Riverton Junior Lineman and Linebacker Braden Vincent said he and his teammates are looking to “prove people wrong this season.”

“There’s a lot of revenge that I know a lot of my teammates and I want,” said Vincent. “We’re working hard. We’ve just been slaving away in the offseason to try and get that.”
