CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Burns High School becomes the second school to cancel a varsity football game this week. This comes one day after reported that Hot Springs County (Thermopolis) Football has canceled this Friday’s game against Tongue River due to COVID and quarantine numbers.

On Wednesday evening from his Twitter account @BurnsBronc, Burns Athletic Director Barry Ward said, “Due to Covid Quarantines the Burns vs. Mitchell Tigers Football game will be canceled. Per WHSAA rules the game will go down as a forfeit win to the Mitchell Tigers.”

Ward also tweeted that this Saturday’s Burns Junior High Football game has been canceled as well.

The Broncs varsity football team is next scheduled to play September 10 versus Tongue River.

Burns was the lone Southeastern Wyoming varsity high school football team scheduled to play at home this week.
