CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Natrona County residents have the chance to win some startup money. Visit Casper is looking for aspiring business owners to think of ideas that will enhance the local tourism industry.

A panel of six judges who are in the tourism industry or entrepreneurs will be picking semi finalists then finalists to split up to $25,000. “We get to come up with some creative ways to stimulate the visitor economy and this is one of those ways,” said Brook Kaufman, the Visit Casper CEO.

Kaufman said they will also provide marketing, accounting and other resources as well as seed money to get these businesses going. Kaufman provided an example of a business where visitors can learn how to ride a horse.

People can apply as a team or an individual. Kaufman adds the tourism industry can be overlooked and thinks there can be more here for people passing through. “We see a lot of leisure visitors and what’s neat is to offer an opportunity in businesses who will serve visitors as they come,” Kaufman said.

People can apply here until Sept. 24.
