KFC foundation awards Mimi’s House $10,000
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The KFC foundation awarded Mimi’s House, a shelter for homeless youth, $10,000 to use for their non profit. Mimi’s House is one out of 11 non-profit organizations across the U.S. that got this award.
“We found 11 unique organizations across the country doing different things. There’s little to no overlap between the organizations which is awesome,” said Emma Horn, the KFC Foundation managing director.
The KFC Foundation has been around since 2006, but this is their first grant program. KFC employees got to give back to teachers and front line workers during the pandemic inspired the foundation to continue the good deeds.
Local KFC teams nominated Mimi’s House for this donation then Mimi’s House filled out an application. They plan to use this money for security systems at each of their homes.
Horn adds it’s rewarding to for her to see employees feeling empowered and help communities across the U.S. “From the moment we read the nomination from the restaurant team we said oh this one pulls at the heart strings and we knew there was something special at Mimi’s House,” Horn said.
Horn adds they hope to continue to grow this program.
