Warmer Today, Cooler Tomorrow

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -

This morning, conditions across the state were very clear. There was no chance of seeing any showers or heavy clouds during the early parts of this morning. Currently, skies are beginning to change. Clouds are moving in from the south and from the northwest. The area of clouds in the northwest are also bringing in a few scattered showers along with them.

As the day continues, cloud coverage will continue to increase. Clouds from the south will continue moving into he southeastern corner. As the cloud coverage increases, so will the wind speeds. Winds are going to be increasing back into the teens and twenties. These wind speeds will continue through the overnight hours. By tomorrow morning, wind speeds will calm down and the cloud coverage will reduce to being partly cloudy during the day.

For today’s update on the smoke, there is a heavier pocket of smoke that is stretching across the northern half of the state. By Friday afternoon, the heavier smoke will shift to being along the western border of Wyoming. As time continues into early Saturday and Saturday afternoon, the heavier smoke will begin pushing back towards the eastern border. This will bring heavier smoke conditions back to the southeastern corner, which includes Cheyenne and Casper.

There is a broad area of Fire Weather Warning across the southern half of the state today. This warning is in effect until Thursday (today) at 8PM. With the dry conditions, warmer temperatures, and faster wind speeds, there is a greater chance of producing fire hazards.

Today is another warm day outside. High temperatures are ranging from the 60 in the northwestern corner to the lower 90s in the southeastern corner. Tonight, the temperatures are going to cool into the 30s and 40s. In the northwestern corner, near Yellowstone National Park, low temperatures are forecast to see temperatures in the 20s. Tomorrow’s high temperatures are going to be cooler than today. Across the state, high temperatures are going to be back in the 70s and 80s. This weekend, temperatures will be back in the 80s. After this weekend, a major cool down is coming our direction.
