CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -
A cold front pushed through the state last night. This front brought back cooler temperatures and clouds through this morning. Today started off cool, but as this day is continuing the outdoors are feeling a bit warmer. Clouds from this morning have mostly pushed out of state, leaving a clear morning and afternoon.
This evening, a few clouds will move into the southeastern corner. As quickly as the clouds move in, they will move back out. Overnight into early tomorrow will have clear skies conditions. Then into tomorrow morning, more clouds will return. These clouds will have a partly cloudy effect on the sky conditions. This system of clouds will stick around through tomorrow evening.
Smoke today is heaviest along the southern border and the southwestern corner. The smoke will continue to sit in this position overnight. By Saturday afternoon, the smoke will push towards the northeastern corner. Casper, Gillette, Cheyenne, and Scottsbluff will then all see returned smoky skies. Through Sunday, the heavier of the light smoke will sit in the southern half of the state. A heavy pocket will be out of state, to the northwest, and will be approaching the northwestern corner of Wyoming through Sunday.
Yesterday, Wyoming was lucky in the fact that zero watches, warnings, or advisories were put into place. Today, that changes. There is a small area under an Air Quality Warning to the south of Riverton. This Air Quality Warning is in effect until this afternoon at 12:15PM. There is also a broad area of the state under a Fire Weather Watch. This watch extends to the northeastern corner from Evanston, towards Casper. The Fire Weather Watch is in effect until Saturday at 7PM.
With the cold front that moved through overnight, temperatures today are cooler. Though not as cool as the beginning of this week. High temperatures across the state today are in the upper 60s and 70s. Tonight, temperatures will cool into the 30s, 40s, and lower 50s in certain cities. Beginning tomorrow, temperatures will rise back into the 70s and 80s. 80 degree temperatures will be found in the northeastern corner and along the eastern border. These temperatures will continue through the weekend and further into the beginning of next week.
