City of Cheyenne Planning and Development gets recognition
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The City of Cheyenne planning and development was recently recognized with 5 awards from WYO-Pass and Western Planner.
“Planners are there first. They are there to help with developers, and subdividers, and landowners and builders too. Take their raw land or maybe under-utilized land and turn it into something that can be good for them and something that can be good for the community,” said Charles Bloom, Director of Planning and Development, City of Cheyenne.
The awards were given to the City of Cheyenne’s Chair of the Planning Commission, Planner of the Year, Outstanding New Planner, and a team award for the Urban Planning Project of the Year.
The team also received the Western Planner 2020 award for getting their office digitized and running during the pandemic.
The Planning and Development Department is also looking at changing amendments for building and accessory codes and carports regulations.
The amendments will help mixed-use properties, property occupancy capacity also.
" I think this award and the awards we’ve received really speak to all the cool things that are happening in town. We’re working on the Urban Renewal Authority. We’re working on the West Edge, and we’re really working on the types of things that are going to make Cheyenne a great place to live, work and play in the foreseeable future,” said Mark Christensen
