Cheyenne Regional Medical Center delivers its latest addition
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Cheyenne Regional Medical Center managers just delivered their newest addition, and it’s been a mother of a project.
From conception to delivery, this Mother and Baby unit at CRMC has been an over 3-year labor of love.
CRMC has a community open house from 3 p.m. To 5 p.m. Friday to showcase their newest unit.
“This is really a culmination of many, many peoples brain power ideas etc., and it really does bring state-of-the-art mother-baby care to Cheyenne and Cheyenne Regional specifically,” says Robin Roling, Chief Operating Officer at CRMC
The new areas will include a labor and delivery, postpartum and a new neonatal intensive care unit.
“It has been a project that has been talked about, hoped, and dreamed of for a very, very long time, and I’m so excited that we have been able to bring it over the finish line,” says Roling.
The over three-year process was interrupted midway through COVID but now is almost finished.
The amenities include eight labor rooms, 12 postpartum rooms, and 7 NICU rooms which have two twin newborn rooms.
Community members have also invested in this project. Donating almost $600,000 through the foundation has helped buy extra equipment for this unit.
”We are just incredibly grateful for the support that our community has provided to us in this endeavor. This has again been a labor of love. It provides much more spacious spaces for moms and their newborns and their family members to come and enjoy and really celebrate new life,” says Roling.
CRMC helps deliver about 1200 babies a year on average.
”I want them to walk away with a full heart seeing that our hospital has listened to our community, listened to our staff and our physicians to really have a place where our patients want to come and to be proud to be here,” says Erin McKinney, Clinical Director for Women and Children Services.
The mother-baby unit is expected to be up and running by Dec. 2022.
The next project for CRMC is an intensive care unit, moving into the same space once the Mother Baby unit gets relocated.
