CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - It’s a great time to be an American. Thanksgiving is days away, the USMNT is back in the World Cup, and Chipotle is giving away free burritos every time the stars and stripes score a goal.

For the first time since 2014, the United States men’s national team qualified for the World Cup. While many fans attending the games will be struggling to get their hands on beer, thanks to a ban of its sale by the anti-alcohol, host country Qatar, Americans watching the games from home should have no trouble getting their hands on burritos.

That’s because Chipotle is offering a free entrée every time the American squad scores a goal.

But, just like it might take a little work to make a World Cup roster, Chipotle will make their customers work to score a free bite.

According to Chipotle’s website, you must:

  • Follow the @ChipotleTweets account on Twitter.
  • Check for updates from @ChipotleTweets account after the U.S. scores a goal, paying special attention to when the account posts a unique keyword.
  • Send the quoted keyword to 888222 after the U.S. scores a goal.
  • Move quick: Only the first 5,000 people to send the code to 888222 will earn a voucher for a free Chipotle entrée.

What’s the catch? There’s a limit of one code per mobile number, per game. So sadly, scoring three free burritos in 90 minutes won’t be possible.

Chipotle will give away up to $1 million dollars worth of food during the tournament.

The World Cup kicked off yesterday with an unsurprising defeat of Qatar at the hands of Ecuador. The USMNT is set to make their first appearance at the famed tournament since 2014 when they take on Wales today at 12 PM MT.
