Suburban house to transform into Christmas wonderland
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Imagine being asked to donate your house for a few days and allow a group of people to transform it into a Christmas wonderland. That’s what’s about to happen this weekend.
For the last 54 years, the Women’s Civic League of Cheyenne (WCLC) has been hosting ‘The Christmas House.’ It’s an annual event where WCLC representatives ask a home owner from the community to temporarily donate their living space to host a public event where a wide variety of Christmas treats, goods, and gifts will fill the home and be up for sale.
All of it in an effort to raise money for the community.
“It all goes back to the community. We do scholarships, we do grants, and then community service programs use the money to put on events like bingo games at one of the nursing homes or Race Across America,” said Pam Crochet, a 20-year veteran of the WCLC.
And this year, they managed to convince locals Lewis and Melanie Conwell to vacate their home and support the cause. They’ll move out of their house on Wednesday as their house is transformed until the event closes shop on Saturday.
The event will take place at 6701 Big Sky Trail Dec. 2 from 9 am to 7 pm and Dec. 3 from 9 am till 3 pm.
Tickets are $6 and can be found here or purchased at the door.
