Pedersen Named Mountain West Freshman of the Week
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Press Release) - For the second time this season, Wyoming Cowgirl Malene Pedersen has been named the Mountain West’s Freshman of the Week, announced Monday by the league office.
Pedersen, who also took home the award December 12, recorded 19 points on an efficient 7-of-9 shooting in Wyoming’s 78-69 win over New Mexico January 5. Pedersen hit 2-of-3 from 3-point range in the contest and also added three free throws and three rebounds. For the season, Pedersen is third on the team averaging 9.9 points per game while her 13.7 points per during league play is second-best on the squad.
Pedersen and the rest of the Cowgirls embark on a three-game road trip this week, beginning Wednesday at Air Force.
