City of Casper has several plans in the pipeline for the new year
Casper, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - With a new year comes new plans, especially for city governments. The City of Casper has several plans they will be working on in 2023.
Over the years, Casper has had many mayors. Lots of them, in fact. Most only serve for a year or two while they’re also on City Council. Providing stability and continuity is the role of the City Manager, which currently is Carter Napier.
“People of a position like mine get a little nervous as to who’s coming on, you know. In some cases, it’s folks that we do know in the community, because of their engagement with the city. Often times, it’s folks that we haven’t had the opportunity to work with before. And yeah, that can be, um, a question as to how that’s going to work...”
“A learning curve?”
Napier agrees, “a learning curve at the very least, yeah!”
A project that Napier is excited about will relocate several departments, putting them all under a bigger roof.
“We hope to make a lot of progress in the reconstruction of the police headquarters. Which will also be the site for the new municipal... The new site for the municipal court. (It) was acquired in April of last year. We are now in the design phase of reconstructing the interior of that building.”
Another topic near the top of the agenda are the services provided to the greater Casper area by Metro Animal Control.
“We just started... This year, as a matter of fact... A task force, if you will... That the City Council is supporting... That other communities and the county is supporting... So we can reimagine how Metro works. And see how we can’t better serve the community.
Over the next 12 months, these are just some of the things that Napier will be working with City Council to accomplish.
The next council meeting open to the public will be on Tuesday, February 7th at 6 PM.
