CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The high school basketball conference schedule is now underway, and that brought two big 4A Southeast games to the Thunderdome.

Laramie’s girls team was a perfect 12-0 heading into Thursday night looking to take out an East squad that just had their own record-tying undefeated streak broken. The first half of the game was extremely competitive; the third ranked Lady Plainsmen trailed by just one heading into the break. The reigning champions and 4A’s number two Lady T-Birds found another gear over the final two quarters though, and they became the first team to beat Laramie this season by a score of 59-47.

The start of the matchup between the boys teams was fairly similar to the previous game. East would go on a run, then Laramie would answer with one of their own. The T-Birds ended up building a more comfortable halftime lead before breaking the game wide open in the second half. Nathan Mirich was seemingly automatic from beyond the three point line for top ranked East, and the Plainsmen had no answers for him. Mirich’s play helped his team win comfortably, 77-56.
