Glenrock Hosts Newcastle to Start Their Weekend
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The snow storm that happened cancelled many of the scheduled Wyoming High School Basketball games, but there were a few that were able to get those games in. One set of games that wouldn’t be stopped was Newcastle who visited Glenrock for some 3A basketball.
We’ll start with how the girls’ game went first. Glenrock came into this one having lost their previous 2, and they were going up against a very formidable opponent Newcastle, who won 5 of their previous 6, their only loss coming from #2 Buffalo. At the end of the first half, Newcastle took a sizeable lead as they were up 45-14. Glenrock would have to find a way to get back into this one during the second half, and they managed to hold the Dogies to 9 points in the third quarter. However, the lead was too much for them to overcome, and Newcastle took the win 59 to 32.
The boys were up next after this one and have been playing some good ball recently, winning 4 of their last 5. They put the pressure on Newcastle early, and with that suffocating press they held Newcastle to just 2 points in the first quarter. Even when they weren’t getting buckets through transition, they were able to set up a nice half court set and score through some good old fashioned team ball. Although the Dogies were close to coming back into this one, the Herders managed to finish the job and come away with the victory 56 to 48.
