East Visits Natrona and the Lady T-Birds Get the Job Done, While the Boys Escape an Upset

CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Natrona hosted another Cheyenne school for a pair of basketball games. Last time it was Central, this time it was East. Both East teams are ranked in 4A, the girls #2 and the boys #1. For Natrona, the Fillies lost in a close one to Central, while the Mustangs upset Central. How would things play out in the Oil City?

The girls took the court first, and it was a close contest in the first half. However, the third quarter was when East started pulling away. Bradie Schlabs for East couldn’t be stopped, whenever she had the ball in her hands, the Lady T-Birds found success. They ended up leading by 14 at the end of the third. Natrona did pull within single digits in the fourth, but they couldn’t catch up. East won this one 68-58.

After that the boys game got going. It took a bit before the first basket was scored by East. Natrona would answer back with a 3, but that would be the only score they had in the first. East had the lead at the end of the first but Natrona would begin to tighten the gap. This game came down to the wire and Natrona had a chance for the back to back upset. However, they would end up missing two free throws with 3 seconds left, and East would escape the upset 37-36.
