CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Lady Thunderbirds had the chance to celebrate senior night on Friday, hosting Campbell County for the occasion. The Lady Camels kept things close in the early stages, as it appeared they could potentially crash the party and steal a win. That didn’t turn out to be the case, as East built up enough cushion in the fourth quarter to put down the third-ranked team in 4A. In the following game, the T-Birds were tested by the Camels all game. Ultimately East’s boys were able to prevent the upset and secure a 67-62 victory.

Across town Central hosted another Gillette school in Thunder Basin. The game between the girls teams was a stalemate through the first half, with the Lady Indians holding just a one point lead. Out of the break, the Lady Bolts caught fire and built up to a nine point lead, but Central punched back to cut the lead to 2 in the fourth quarter. Thunder ended up making a few big shots down the stretch though to put it out of reach, and picked up a 71-60 victory. The boys edition of this matchup was fairly similar, except it all came down to the final three seconds. The teams were deadlocked at 46, but Central fouled Thunder Basin and the Bolts were able to knock down the clutch free throws to nab a 48-46 win.

The first half of the Kelly Walsh-Star Valley girls game was very close, and saw some very back and forth play throughout. Kelly Walsh trailed by only 2, but Star Valley had a monstrous second half. The Lady Trojans weren’t able to contain the Braves offense as they put up 35 points in the second half, and started off the night with the win. The final ended as 60-38. Next up the boys took the court, and the Trojans were coming off a loss to Rock Springs. This one, like the one before it, started off back and forth. The Trojans ended up having four players who finished with double digit points on the night though, and They were able to overcome Star Valley to win 63-59.
