East dominates South in Wednesday night action at Storey Gym
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - East and South took center stage for Wyoming high school basketball Wednesday night, as they were the only teams in action in the state.
The Lady T-Birds imposed their will over their crosstown rival from the opening tip. By halftime, East already had a lead north of 30 points thanks largely in part to the play of their senior center Elysiana Fonseca. That margin stayed mostly the same for the second half; East rested their starters for the majority of it, and the Lady T-Birds left with a 69-34 victory.
In the boys edition of the rivalry, South started the game on a 7-4 scoring run. However, that was the last lead they would see the rest of the way. The T-Birds were lethal on the counterattack, and guards Drew Jackson and Garet Schlabs gave the Bison problems all evening. This game ended in lopsided fashion similar to the girls game, with East winning 76-43.
