Musicians play at the Capitol for First Responders

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - There is nothing like a bit of music to rally the troops and lift spirits, and that’s precisely what a duo of hardy musicians did at the Capitol Thursday morning, in honor of their team and first responders.

”I helped start the Jerry Behrens Foundation to support first responders its now state wide, we do it state wide. I think its great I think the whole thing is great, its great for Wyoming. Wyoming is small but its got a big heart  and I think its a great state,” said Matt Mitchel,l Physician & Founder of Jerry Behrens Foundation.

The Lander and Casper volunteer Fire Department Pipe Band was scheduled to play this morning at the Capitol.

But with Wyoming’s ever-amazing weather, only two of the twelve-member team made it to the performance; the rest were snowed-in in Lander.

The Casper duo kept the show rolling, debuting in honor of their stuck band members.

The Scottish Highland music Pipe Band supports first responders.

They play at the Riverton fire memorial and Veteran and First Responder funerals.

The group also partners with the Jerry Behrens Foundation providing about $100,000 worth of benefits to first responders.

”I think it’s special. Especially in Wyoming, you really don’t see bagpipes very often anywhere but especially in Wyoming. I think it’s especially meaningful to be able to provide that for people, “ said Eric Willcox, Pharmisit & Player for the Jerry Behrens Foundation.
