CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - High School Wrestling is on its final weekend for the winter season, as the State Tournament started up yesterday. This first day is historic, as it’s the first time in Wyoming High School sports history that it has a Girl’s tournament.

It saw nothing but girls action throughout, and they hit the mats early. For girls wrestling, there are no conferences with every school wrestling in the same bracket. But with that said, many schools who usually don’t face off went head to head. On the first day, they finished up to the semifinals for all of the brackets. After a whole slew of matches, and over 50 schools competing, we’ll take a look to see which schools are in position to win the first ever girls state wrestling tournament after the first day.

Star Valley holds a nice lead right now with 131. Pinedale is the only other team over 100 with 113. After that Kelly Walsh holds third place with 82. Sheridan not too far behind them in fourth with 80. Thunder Basin holding the edge over east for fifth by three points. It’s a dead tie for 7th place between Wind River, Kemmerer and Worland, they all have 56. And rounding out the top 10 is Central with 49.5. The semi finals concluded yesterday... The finals will be decided later today, as well as the Boys tournament starting as well.
