East basketball completes regular season sweep of Central

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Storey Gym was rocking Friday night for the final 2023 regular season edition of the East-Central crosstown rivalry.

The girls game was back and forth throughout the majority of the first half, but the Lady T-Birds seized the momentum going into the break. However, throughout the third quarter the Lady Indians were chipping away at East’s lead to cut it to single digits. Lady T-Birds star Boden Liljedahl made sure her team would put it out of reach though; she had a huge second half, and ultimately was their leading scorer with 22 points. That paved the way for a 77-67 East victory.

In the last meeting between Central and East’s boys teams, the margin of victory for the T-Birds was one Garet Schlabs free throw. Early on it looked like the rematch between the ranked teams could go down to the wire once more, but then East caught fire. The top team in 4A left no doubt in the latter contest, winning handily by a score of 63-48.
