Natrona Girls Get the Peach Basket, While the Kelly Walsh Boys Win Their 7th in a Row
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Another edition of the Natrona Kelly Walsh rivalry took place on Saturday.
This time it was the Peach Basket that was on the line.
Last time around Kelly Walsh was able to sweep the Peach Basket, as both of the teams won their games. The girls game was up first.
It was back and forth to start out early, but the Fillies ended the first half leading by 12. When the second half came, it was all Natrona. Sophomore Brynn Sybrant dominated the inside, and she couldn’t be stopped. Whether it was in the post or from second chance points she was an unstoppable force. Despite a Peyton Carruth 3 at the end of the third and Kelly Walsh’s best efforts, the Fillies take back the Peach Basket 55-28. Would the Mustangs be able to sweep the Trojans and prevent their 6th Peach Basket in a row?
The Trojans came hot right out the get go. They applied massive defensive pressure and forced some huge turnovers. Beyond the arc was where the entire Isaak Mamot and Landon Pepple lived in the first quarter, knocking down 4 threes combined in the first alone. The Trojans would be up big at the end of the first with a score of 15-3, but Natrona would try for the come back. The Mustangs managed to cut it down to single digits and were within a basket, but it wasn’t enough. Kelly Walsh took home the Peach Basket winning the game 48-40.
