CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Cheyenne Extreme 18U softball team made their season debut in the Capital City on Saturday, hosting schools from around the region. The early stages of their season earned them a 3-1 record coming into the weekend, and they continued to build on that foundation.

Their opening contest was against Prodigy. The Extreme found at least one run in each of the four innings, including a four-run third. On the mound, Jaylyn Christensen pitched the shutout, allowing just one hit and three walks with nine strikeouts.

In game two, they’d take on a fellow Wyoming team in the Gillette Blue Jays. Cheyenne got out to a 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the second, thanks to a pair of run-scoring hits from Arianna Canseco and McKenzie Millar. A pair of runs came from the Blue Jays in the second and third innings, but another three-run frame allowed the Extreme to take this one 6-2.

Their final game was against the Sting from Northern Colorado, where Cheyenne would find a lot of success in the second inning. Emma Kimberling earns credit for four of their eight runs in the second (she had five RBIs through the game), and drove each of those in off of a grand slam. She finished the game with two home runs.
